The Development of Low Level Auditory Processing
------------------------------
Burkhart Fischer and Klaus Hartnegg report research from the Brain Research Group at the University of Freiburg, Germany. The data of 478 normal subjects aged 7 to 35 years have been collected.Their study shows that low level auditory discrimination is still not fully developed at the beginning of school age. A proportion of young subjects appear to be unable to perform one or other task even at its easiest level. Development of low level auditory processing can last up to the age of 20 years. The data of several hundred dyslexic children indicate systematic deficits in the auditory domains tested in this study.

Why can't I read like the other kids?
------------------------------
"Why can't I read like the other kids?” 8-year-old Girard thought to himself as he sat in class. The sun was shining in through the classroom windows, creating a shadow from the paper pumpkins on the window the other kids had made. Just like the shadow of the pumpkin, Girard's life was shadowed by the other students’ performance. His own growth was not being considered but was being compared to the performance of his fellow students."

Dyslexia in Texas
------------------------------
We have started to gather information about all the different resources available if you live in Texas: organizations, associations, local groups, dyslexia centers, schools, and so on. We have made a start on this, but I am sure that there are many major omissions. If you notice any resources we have missed, please add them through the form at the bottom of the page.
